Sunday, August 22, 2010. Race starts at 8 am Sprint and Olympic distance triathlon at Bowers Harbor in Traverse City, MI. Athletes must register by Sunday, August 8 to guarantee a race shirt Sprint Distance triathlon: 750m swim, 20km (12.4 mile) bike, 5km (3.1 mile) run. Olympic Distance triathlon: 1500m swim, 40km (24.8 mile) bike, 10km (6.2 mile) run. $50 before July 23, 2010 $55 before August 16, 2010 $60 before August 21, 2010 $65 for race-day registration All athletes must be annual USAT members or purchase a one-day license for $10. The race will start off with a swim in the calm waters of Bowers Harbor on West Grand Traverse Bay. After exiting the water, racers will roll out onto the bike course which winds along orchards, vineyards, on the Old Mission Peninsula. Sprint-distance racers will turn around at 6.5 miles while Olympic racers enjoy spectacular views riding along both East and West Grand Traverse bays on their 24.8-mile, single-loop course. Olympic athletes will also be challenged by several significant hills on the bike course. Both Sprint and Olympic racers will run along Neahtawanta Rd. along Bowers Harbor, finishing the race at Bowers Harbor Park.
